The direct flight from PDX to AMS was less than half full. Sweet. We arrived on the eve of the Feast of Saint Nicholas. Sinter Klaas, who arrived in Scheveningen, Holland last week by boat from Spain has been been roaming the countryside, accompanied by his sidekick Zwarte Piet (Black Peter) who often travels in pairs of black faced Dutchmen and was more ubiquitous. Our first sighting was at Schiphol airport.
