So i got off the train at a quarter past 7am and stowed my big bag in a locker. The central pedestrian zone was a ghost town.
This is evidently a May Day Eve tradition, to run amok and engage in pranks, similar to our Halloween.
This day is a national holiday in Germany, May Day... Labor Day. The Democrats and Socialists took to the streets. It was great to cheer them on. (And an internet cafe' was close by!)
And this being Germany, any holiday means Bier Fest.
