TGIF America. We trained down to Bruges today, and for some reason, we're bushed. We have rented a nice little house, Asterix, near the heart of the old town.
This is our own Flemish home away from home. The landlord Dr. Dewilde, a GP physician, bought and restored this house around the turn of the millenium. Located just off of Queen Astrid Park, it's wonderfully decorated in old world chíc with the cutest little back patio.
Ours is the story house in the middle with the red door... (last pic is view from the master bedroom.)
As always, more pictures and text to follow. Right now, the beer is calling...

Yes, TGIF to y'all as well. A and R asleep [9 o'clock], and I catching up on your adventures again. FYI, Renze loved the Aquarium at least asmuch as I loved Rogue Brewing, and we visited Yaquina Head Lighthouse, too. "It's either ten-hundred, or three hundred, stairs to the top," Renze said. [It's actually 110 -- Annette counted.]
Step away from the herring, Vermeersch!

You guys are staying very close to where Miguel's aunt lives -- a corner of Brugge I know quite well! Have a suikerwafel for me!
and what kind of beer goes best with a suikerwafel? Framboise, misschien?
framboise might be too sweet but given that I prefer fruit beer, I'd perhaps go with a kriek or a cassis.
Miguel says you should drink coffee with a suikerwafel but if he had to pick a beer, it would be Rodenbach.
