So, as background... Back when i was studying in Tübingen, Frau Inghels, our resident director began to arrange cultural host families; not the kind you lived with, but rather social contacts between the Oregon exchange students and local Deutschers. In my case, she hit the bullseye. With shared interests, we have kept in contact these many years since. Irene and Frieder count now as family, that we always look forward to seeing again. The kids have long since flown the coop, but we all return (in my case, with dirty laundry).
Good food and great conversation... for me, the perfect vacation!
Breakfast, including my favorite non coffee grain beverage, sort of a combo between java and cocoa. I call it Coff-Coff.
Meeting Onkel Frieder on his lunch break at school.
German afternoons with Kaffee & Kuchen.
A fine bon voyage dinner featuring fresh white asparagus.
Tomorrow i'm off to Berlin. Tante Irene also leaves for Russia. Technically, it's already tomorrow here, so time to break.
Bis Morgen!

Looking at your pictures of Schwabelaendle is actually making me a bit homesick for good ol' Germany! Looking forward to Berlin...
